Spaghetti meatballs is a classic Italian-American dish that combines tender meatballs with a flavorful tomato sauce, served over a bed of perfectly cooked spaghetti noodles.
It is an American creation that originated from Italian immigrants in the early 20th century. However, it has become an iconic dish and beloved comfort food worldwide.
Ingredients:
- 1 pound of ground beef
- 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup of chopped parsley
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 can of san marzano tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of Italian herb seasoning (basil, oregano, garlic powder, chili flakes, salt)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Spaghetti noodles
Preparation:
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix everything together until well combined.
- Roll the mixture into small meatballs, about 1-inch in diameter.

- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add some minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the meatballs to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside.


Non-fried option: Place meatballs in the basket of the air fryer leaving some space between meatballs, cook them for 10 minutes at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C), flip them with some tweezers and cook for additional 5 minutes for even browing. Once cooked set aside an reserve.
- In a hot skillet, add 3 cloves of garlic minced and cook until fragant, then add the tomatoes and crush them with a mash potato utensil, this will give you a much chunky sauce just make sure to crush all big pieces, after 5 minutes of cooking add sugar, italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.
- Bring the tomato sauce to a simmer, cover and let it cook for about 10 minutes.
- Meanwhile, cook the spaghetti noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain the noodles. Once cooked add the noodles to the sauce with one or two tablespoons of the pasta cooking water.
- Serve the cooked spaghetti noodles topped with the meatballs and tomato sauce. Garnish with some extra Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley. Enjoy!
