Ground beef and cabbage

A few ingredients go a long way to make a delicious week dinner. Pair this ground beef and cabbage dish with some cooked rice or pasta, a side of mashed or baked potatoes, plus some roasted vegetables.


  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 medium size onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cabbage head, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 kilogram of lean ground beef.
  • 2 tbsp. of tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp. of olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 tsp. paprika


In a large pot at medium heat, fry the garlic and onion with 2 tablespoons of olive oil. When the onion caramelizes add the tomato paste and cook for 2 more minutes. Add the ground beef and cabbage. Season with salt, pepper and paprika. Cook stirring occasionally. I prefer not to cover with a lid and let the juices evaporate. When the ingredients are fully cooked I continue stirring to brown the beef.

Serve with pasta, rice, baked potatoes and/or roasted vegetables.
