Italian-style homemade tomato sauce

Use this Italian-style tomato sauce as a base for pizzas, lasagna, soups, etc.

Ingredients:

  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 cups of fresh red tomatoes puree (San Marzano, Roma, Campari, Brandywine, Beefstake or Plum variety) or 1 can (28 oz.) whole peeled tomatoes, pureed
  • 1 tbsp. dry basil
  • 1 tbsp. dry garlic in powder
  • 1 tsp. dry onion
  • 1 tbsp. salt
  • a pinch of pepper
  • 4 tbsp. olive oil

Preparation:

In a sauce pan at medium heat fry the minced garlic with the olive oil for about 2 minutes. Add the tomatoes, dry basil, garlic in powder, dry onion, salt and pepper to taste. Cook for 10 more minutes.
